The counselors at Mabry Middle School keep a blog. They include information about articulation from 5th to 6th grades and 8th to 9th grades, information to parents about cyber bullying, living with an inbetween-ager, the testing program, summer leadership opportunities, underage drinking, career counseling, and how to apply to the magnet school among many other topics. This is the Mabry Middle School learning communities one stop shop for all things counseling.

This blog is a documentary of the 7th grade student's overnight field trip to study the bio-diversity and ecology of the Georgia Coast. The students are divided into teams. Each team is given a camera. As they attend their on-location classes out in the marshes, on the beaches, in the slough, on the docks, etc. each team takes pictures. The cameras are returned briefly to a tech guru who uploads the images to this photojournal immediately after the classes. Moms and dads back at home, and friends and family all over the world can see that learning is irresistible! Special teams of students also create video podcasts of their classes.

I must confess being partial to this school website as I set it all up in August, 2005. MabryOnline is actually a collection of over 100 blogs. Even what appears to be the homepage is a blog. The site served as the schools complete web presence from August, 2005 until July, 2007. During that time the site served up over 30,000,000 files to users all over the world. The site is no longer the official web presence for the school but remains up as an example of best practices for the profession.

The site contains hundreds of digital media files created by the students, teachers, and administration at the school. After seeing the students' work, visitors came from around the world to meet with the students at Mabry to learn how they too could replicate these accomplishments in their own school settings.
