A blog can have one column, two, three, even more. Sometimes multiple columns can become confusing to your reader. Have style, but also be user friendly. Perhaps the most common blog layout is two columns as pictured on the left. The smaller right hand column in the example is the sidebar. On the right is an example of a three column layout. Both of the smaller columns on the right would be considered sidebars.
