Dr. Tim Tyson, the principal of Mabry Middle School from 2001 until June 30, 2007, created MabryOnline.org as his "little vacation project" in the summer of 2005. The website was designed to be a showcase for the work of the students, teachers, and administration of Mabry Middle School. While MabryOnline.org is no longer the official web presence for the school, it remains available to share with educators all around the world a rich repository of best practices for leveraging connectivity in a school setting.
Rather than attempting to master the enormous complexity that MabryOnline.org became in such a short time, the new principal of Mabry and the school district decided to create a new web presence for the school. That site is now under heavy construction and in time will probably feature many of the same componants that were so popular at MabryOnline.org.
MabryOnline.org proved to be unexpectedly, even wildly, popular, serving up well over 30,000,000 files in just 2 school years! Almost 350 gigabytes of data was transmitted from MabryOnline.org to users all over the world. And, amazingly, these figures do not include any of the digital media files created by the students, teachers, and administration, making the true numbers significantly higher! The school's digital media also remains available free of charge through the iTunes store. (Simply search for "Mabry" at the iTunes store, or, by clicking on this link, you will be taken to Mabry's media at the iTunes store if you have iTunes installed on your computer: Windows or Mac.)
After seeing the students' work on the website, visitors came to Mabry from all over the United Stated and even foreign countries to talk with the students, teachers, and Dr. Tyson to learn how they too could infuse this unprecedented level of meaningfulness and significance into their students' educational plan. Dr. Tyson retired from Cobb County Public Schools in June, 2007, so he could pursue
sharing with teachers and educational leaders around the world a proven vision for implementing technology into a comprehensive school plan. For a list of the services he can provide to your school or school system, click on this link or on the "Services" tab in the navigation bar at the top of this page.
Enjoy exploring this rich archive (MabryOnline.org) of work that was published to the web from August, 2005, through June, 2007. Hopefully the work presented here will inspire students, teachers, and administrators the world over to find extraordinary ways to make a personal contribution that will reach Dr. Tyson's vision for eduction: to make our world a better place.
